My name is Emma. Mum to five crazy children I lovingly refer to as the Raucous Rabble.
Gym lover. With a bit of a wicked sense of humour.

Sometime ago, I chose to take charge of my life and leave my depression and anxiety behind.
My first step was leaving a controlling relationship. It took a lot of work to find my happiness again.
Then I met Jo and her story resonated with me. I felt we were a little kindred in our spirits. When Jo first advertised for Happiness Club Trainers I felt that this was my chance to help people who, like me, had become stuck in a rut and needed tools to maintain great mental health. I also saw it it as an ideal opportunity to give children the opportunity to learn resilience too. Being a Mum and remembering my own miserable childhood, I wanted to help the youth of today learn some skills to become emotionally intelligent and resilient human beings. I love helping people discover the happiness within. Life is wonderful when you realise all you need for true happiness is yourself and a few simple tools you can use anywhere, anytime.

Covering North Wales

My name is Adele Hughes and I live in North Wales with my two girls. I have an extensive background working with people in a supportive roll, within a variety of settings. I lived away for many years and started a family with my then husband, after our relationship broke down, I returned to Wales. My girls have been my primary focus for more than a decade and I am very proud of the well-rounded individuals that they are becoming. Returning to Wales and my family support network, enabled me to further my education and undertake a degree in family and childhood studies, which leads me to the present day.

Covering North Wales

I have been interested in resilience for as long as I can remember. Academic study allowed me to expand my knowledge further in this field, I was particularly fascinated by the impact of adverse childhood experiences. Throughout my own life I have faced a variety of adversities, it was during a life changing period of ill health that I met Jo. I benefited first hand from her resilience workshops and online Happiness Club. As my studies concluded, I seized the opportunity to train with Jo and become a part of the team. I am passionate about the benefit and importance of educating both adults and children with the knowledge, tools and techniques to live a happier, stronger and more resilient life. Seeing the impact that delivering these workshops has on people both young and old, fills me with immeasurable joy.

What led me to become a Happiness Trainer?

I had dealt with depression and anxiety, on and off for almost 20 years. I was in a job I was deeply unhappy in. I looked at my life and thought there must be more than this.

Trouble was, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. I'd been in a corporate job since I was 17, I didn't know anything else. But corporate life didn't make me happy.

In 2016, I started on the path of self development. Learning to love myself. It was then I knew I wanted to help others see the happier side to life. To stop others going through what I'd been through. But how??

In January 2018, I saw Jo Howarth speak at an event. I instantly knew I wanted to work with her, I had no idea how but I knew I would. We connected on Facebook and shortly afterwards, Jo advertised for trainees. I knew this was it. This was what I'd been looking for.
And the rest, as they say, is history 😊

My name is Farah. My background is Pharmaceuticals. I have a degree is Biomedical Sciences and a Doctorate in Biochemistry. I built a very successful career in the Medical Diagnostics and Pharmaceutical industry.
I worked in numerous fields including R&D, Technical support, Manufacturing and Quality. I held various positions from hands on Scientist to senior leadership roles. My corporate career was extremely fulfilling and challenging, but with it came being overworked, burnt out and stressed and I did not have the tools to manage this.
Work related stress is the number one reason for sick leave. I decided to train as a resilience coach to help people with similar corporate backgrounds so that they able to recognise the early signs of stress and anxiety, understand where it comes from, how it manifests, how to manage it and give people tools and techniques to work through it. In addition, I'm a mum to a 6 year old. I see how strained and stressed he is with school and life expectations. Life is tough for our children. We were not given the tools to manage stress and anxiety as children, which carries through to adulthood. I decided to train in the schools emotional management programme so that I'm able to deliver these tools to our future generations.

Hello I’m Emma and I live in beautiful Shropshire with my little boy and our bouncy black Labrador. Having a work/life balance is incredibly important to me and I’m very fortunate that becoming a Happiness Club Trainer has given me the opportunity to pursue a career in something I’m passionate about, whilst also being able to spend lots of time with my son, having fun and going on adventures together.
My background is in therapeutic residential care and education and working within projects supporting parents and children at times difficulty or crisis. I also spent a couple of years in the Network Marketing industry which developed my coaching and training skills, along with discovering I had an unexpected enjoyment of public speaking.
I’d met Jo Howarth at a networking event a few years ago but it wasn’t until the start of 2018 that I became fully aware of what the Happiness Club was all about. I’d recently separated from my husband and was pretty much re-evaluating my life and trying to focus on what I wanted to do, become and experience as I looked towards the future as a single parent. I put my intentions out there and the next day I saw Jo’s advert looking for people to become Happiness Club Trainers. I instinctively knew I had to find out more and needless to say, I haven’t looked back since.

LOUISE
Covering Cheshire

As a registered counsellor, I have supported hundreds of people to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. I'm passionate about helping people live their best life I'm proud to work with The Happiness Club.

I've a long professional career, with a number of senior roles in consultancy, local government and the civil service. I understand - and have experienced - stress. The sprints for deadlines. The spinning too many plates and fearing which one I'll drop. The impostor syndrome. The navigating uncertainty and constant change. The bullies. Long-term, chronic stress. And eventually the breakdown.
It wasn't until my breakdown that I learnt how avoidable it should have been and how I could help build my own resilience. I now teach workers, managers and senior leaders everywhere to address their stress and become more resilient. Let me help you too.

And being a mother of 3, it's so important to me to teach our children these life-saving, emotional management skills to younger generations - our programmes for schools and FE/HE really do make such a difference.

SHARON
Covering Norfolk

Hello, I am Sharon Banham, I live in a small Norfolk town with my husband and 2 awesome teenagers. My background, pre-children, was in customer service and I then spent 8 years as a childminder while I raised my 2 beautiful children.

In January 2018, the Universe gave me a massive shove, right into the path of Jo Happiness Howarth who was looking for people to train with her. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I knew it was something I needed to do.
I have been blessed with a calm outlook on life, but that doesn’t mean I have no experience of anxiety or stress, raising an autistic child has taught me plenty about these issues and many more, one thing I learned very early on, is that the answer is always within the individual, they might just need some help to find it! Following an intensive, 6 month training period, where I not only learned a wealth of tools and techniques that I can pass on to those in need of help, I have met people who have changed my life for the better and I cannot imagine life without them, or the Happiness Club, in it! I am delivering the workshops and schools programme throughout Norfolk and I love teaching people how to manage their resilience and choose Happiness every single day!

KELLY
Covering Merseyside

Hi I'm Kelly I have been designing and delivering training for over 15 years, having trained in the police service where I was their Leadership trainer for 8 years before taking voluntary redundancy.

Before then I completed a degree in childhood studies and worked regularly with children and young adults. I now run my own training company and design and deliver bespoke professional training courses. As I have a multifaceted background of working with both adults and children I often work with those who are in the care or education industry.
It's interesting that I now get to directly influence adults and children to feel better about themselves as ever since I was little I always had an ability to understand others and make them feel comfortable or more relaxed.

I feel my life's experiences and professional journey has led me to becoming a Happiness Club Trainer. I strongly believe as adults we have a duty to empower and influence our children to build resilience and show them how to be the best they can be. Becoming a Happiness Trainer has equipped me with even more tools to help adults and children understand their emotions and get the make the most of life.

KARYN
Covering Cambridgeshire

Karyn has worked in education since 2003 in a university, as a teaching assistant and as an English teacher, working with children and young people aged from 3 to 18. In addition to working with young people, Karyn has also delivered training to adults in schools. On the front line as a teacher, Karyn realised the impact of young people’s emotional wellbeing on their ability to learn. She also realised the effect on classes as a whole and the wellbeing of the teachers delivering those classes. A long-time mindfulness practitioner, Karyn attended the Mindful Living Show in 2018 where she met Jo Happiness-Howarth. Karyn joined the Happiness Club soon afterwards and when Jo shared a post asking people to train with her, Karyn felt a spark of excitement. Deciding to train wasn’t a difficult decision to make.
Karyn had already started training as a Mindfulness teacher and was planning to train as a coach, so this opportunity was the perfect complement to the rest of Karyn’s work. Prior to working in education, Karyn worked in marketing and promotions. One of her greatest achievements was arranging a radio promo tour for a band while most of the office were away on a sales conference. Karyn believes that by helping children and adults understand their emotions and build up their resilience we can make the world a happier place.

KATIE
Covers Shropshire

I’m Katie, mum of one, Happiness Trainer & baking addict. I would be fair to say my journey to becoming a Happiness Trainer (I work in schools specifically)probably begins way back in the 1980’s. Growing up in a family with a parent with mental health issues, my default setting was that it was somehow my fault or that I wasn’t good enough. I found it hard to accept compliments or positivity without feeling like an imposter about to be found out for being worthless or unlovable. I trundled through life bearing this burden, and was blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2013.
I opened my own family/baby focussed business a year later in 2014, only to call it quits in 2017 - another failure, yet another reason I just wasn’t good enough. By this point I’d known Jo for a couple of years & my ‘baby’ was now a ‘big’ girl off to school. I’d notice how often my daughter would relate a story, incident or comment from the children around her and I began to wonder what we could achieve (as a society!) if our children didn’t have to bear the emotional crosses that many of us have. To feel powerful in the face of often overwhelming feelings feels to me like the most precious gift we can give to our children, infact all the children of the world. And that’s why I became a Happiness Trainer - it’s changed how I see my own story, I now feel good enough just as I am, no ifs, no buts, no maybes and I feel passionate to spread this wonderful message, there are so many children who need it.
